At present, the major products of Bunge's subsidiaries in China are feedstuff soybean meal with a protein content of 43%, 46% and 48% respectively, high-fiber soybean hull, concentrated phospholipids, edible soybean salad oil, etc.

Soybean Meal
In recent years, the rapidly emerging foodstuff and feedstuff industry in China has created a cyclical structure of beneficial development for cultivation, planting, processing, and beyond. Soybean meal is the major source of protein in feedstuff, accounting for over 20% of total feed ingredients. The soybean meal for feedstuff can be divided into 43% soybean meal, 46% soybean meal and 48% soybean meal with respect to protein content.

Soybean meal has the broadest usage among the various oilseed meals, like cottonseed meal, peanut meal, rapeseed meal, sesame meal, palm meal, etc. The requirement of soybean meal mainly comes from the protein requirements of the breeding and feedstuff processing industry for the production of edible feedstuff for livestock and poultry. The food processing industry, coating, pharmaceutical and other industries also have certain requirement for soybean meal for the production of raw materials for baked goods, healthy foods, cosmetics and antibiotics. Around 85% of soybean meal is used for feeding poultry and pigs, as the meal’s amino acids help meet key nutritional needs of these animals. The amino acids contained in soybean meal are sufficient for poultry and pigs without the addition of animal protein meal. Sometimes animal protein will also be added to feed for live pigs as a protein additive. Generally, however, soybean meal is a sufficient source of protein for poultry and pigs. Only when the cost of other protein meals is far lower than that of soybean meal will people consider using other protein meal substitutes. In the breeding of milk cows, soybean meal is also one of the most important feed ingredients.
