In 1998, Bunge established itself in China as a trading operation of agricultural products for its Chinese customers. 2000 marked the founding of Bunge International Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., providing soybeans to the Chinese market and assisting Chinese farmers and enterprises to export corn and wheat. In 2005, Bunge entered the soybean crushing and protein feed sectors to better and more cost-effectively serve Chinese farmers and enterprises engaged in livestock production, ultimately benefiting the Chinese consumers.  Currently, Bunge has two soybean crushing plants in operation: Bunge Nanjing Feedstuff Protein Co., Ltd. and Bunge Sanwei Oil & Fat Co., Ltd.
